MSS (Mobile Satellite Service)
Reporting Terminal
MSS Reporting Terminal is used to transmit
messages up to 40 characters length from a remote location
to three pre-defined locations via INSAT satellite, earth
station and PSTN. The reporting terminal is a one way transmitter
developed in collaboration with Space Application Center,
Ahmedabad. Different versions of the MSS Reporting Terminal
are available:
- Hand-held Mobile Terminal
- Vehicle Mount Terminals
- Data Acquisition Terminals
Description
INSAT reporting system
operates in TDMA mode, and is suitable for sending low density
short messages. Each Reporting Terminal with unique ID code
operates at S-band and transmits short messages up to 40
characters at 600 BPS.
INSAT reporting network
consists of S / C transponder (with coverage area of the
Indian subcontinent and the surrounding seas and ocean),
C - band Hub Station, Public Switched Telephone Network
(PSTN), Reporting Terminals and User Terminal (PC / FAX)
at the destination.
