The Network Management System provides a set of software tools for maintaining the MSS network. The NMS receives text and GPS messages sent by the terminals and stores then into a database. This database is synchronized with the central NMS periodically, so that all the Hubs have the same data. The synchronization is done automatically using the DAMA network.

The system incorporates the following functions:

• Authentication
  Provides Authentication for access to NMS and User activities.
• Administration
  Provides Administrative Interfaces for User Management, Access Privileges,
  Terminal Management, NMS Access Management and Log Management.
  
• Configuration
  Provides interfaces to enable or disable features on NMS, Configurable Hardware settings.
• Communication
  Provides Interface to send messages received at the Hub via Email, FTP and Fax to the end user.
• Messaging
  
This module allows for the messages to be received via messaging software plugged into the NMS. The identification of packet format and reconstruction of the message is done by the messaging software.
